Rio Vantone camp site is located on Lake Idro just south of the beautiful Dolomites. Lake Idro with its fine shingle beaches and beautiful surroundings is not such a well known part of northern Italy's lake district. The lake is situated between its bigger brothers Garda and Como but is much more intimate. Lake Idro has the purest water and motor boats are not allowed to sail on it, giving swimmers and surfers all the room they need. The lovely camp site is situated by the water's edge on level grassland and partly against a hill, and has attractive marked out pitches. There is a shallow pool and a playground specially for the children. Fun activities are organised for all ages in high season.
Maybe you prefer the countryside which is surprisingly beautiful here in Lombardy. Walking tours are organised from the camp site. East of Idro is an enormous natural area that extends right to the western shores of Lake Garda; the Parco Dell’Alto Garda Bresciano. North of the lake is the mountainous province of Trentino or Alt’Adige. A feature of the Dolomites is the Brenta Valley, the rugged Dolomiti di Brenta. There are plenty of cultural day trips or city tours to make in the region: Milan, Brescia, Verona and even Venice can all be reached in a day!
